Updated Senior (13-16) Baseball League Information

  • Due to the rain we’ve had over the last two weeks, the Town of Colchester has only partially opened the baseball fields. As a result, CBSL is unsure if the fields will be open this Saturday, and so we are scheduling Senior League evaluations for Monday, April 21st at 6pm on the R2 field.Registrations for Senior League will be accepted through Saturday, April 19th. Registration forms are available on the CBSL website (www.CBSL.org) under “Registration” and “2014 Editable Spring Registration Form”. Forms can be mailed to:

    P.O. Box 114
    Colchester, CT 06415

If you would like to drop registration forms off, please contact Chris Ferrante (president@cbsl.org), or Paul Scheibelein (vicepresident@cbsl.org) for details. Registrations received after 4/19 will be placed on a waiting list. If there are enough players, a second team may be formed, providing we have enough volunteers to manage/coach.

  • As you may be aware, Little league has completed the process of re-aligning the districts throughout Connecticut, and as a result, CBSL is now part of District 11. As a result of this re-alignment, there is now the opportunity to have our senior baseball division join the other teams in the district for the 2014 season. A component of this program is that CBSL will have to merge our junior and senior participants onto teams of players ranging from 13-16 years of age. It is important to note that most of the teams are comprised primarily of 13 and 14 year old players, with a smaller number of 15 year olds and very few 16 year old players. Additionally, the district employs playing rules that prohibit 16 year old players from pitching, and limits the pitching of 15 year olds to a maximum of 3 innings per game. Feedback from other towns that participate in this division of play is very positive; all the towns feel the program provides an appropriate level of competition for the players moving up to the full size diamond, while keeping play competitive enough to continue to engage the older players.CBSL will be holding our Senior baseball evaluations at a date to be determined; based in part on when the town will make our fields available for use. If you have not yet registered, please bring a completed registration form and payment to the player evaluations. Registration forms can be found on the CBSL website. As always, we are interested in soliciting any volunteers that are interested in managing or coaching within this division of play. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like more information about the coming season.
